Vibe – Mental Health Capacity Building (Alberta Health Services)
Welcome to another exciting school year! My name is Jodi Simmonds and I am the VIBE Wellness Coach here at the School of Hope. The VIBE Program’s objectives include promoting positive mental health in children, youth, families, and communities by increasing awareness and knowledge and building personal skills like self-care and self-regulation techniques. We also help to facilitate access for students to other mental health supports here at the school including the Family School Liasion Worker.
I offer Grade 7-12 students weekly classes that are optional. Some classes or programs are available for class credit and some are strictly optional and are for students to build a connection with each other and build skills to enhance their mental health now and over their lifetime. I also post in the classroom and discuss current mental health and wellness topics. Parents are invited to check out the classroom posts but are not invited formally to attend the Blackboard sessions (meaning you are welcome to listen in with your children but we would ask you not to log in or actively participate as these sessions are designed for students). All sessions are available as recordings for anyone who is interested. I look forward to connecting with your family soon.
